Occupant Restraint Systems Functions & Failures

The attendee will gain insight into the general methods used to examine restraint systems to determine if they were in use at the time of an incident, as well as the evidence related to potential restraint system failures. Using real‑world examples of system evaluations, the presentation identifies common failure modes, including sensor errors, crash related damage influences, and misuse or tampering. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of restraint system performance and practical strategies used to determine whether the restraint system functioned properly during an impact, as well as evidence to determine if vehicle occupants properly utilized the restraint system during a crash event.
